About the event

Hello, hello all! It is time to get all excited for what is going to be a stunning trip that you will remember for the rest of your life. ( I hope in a good way 😃)

From the turquoise colours of the Mediterranean Sea to the historical buildings of Marseille, France's second city and the Roman theatre of Arles to Europe's best beaches and nature reserves, this weekend will be full of wonders.

We will visit Marseilles where we will be based and the Coast of Camargue with its sandy beaches, warm sand, delicious ice creams, French specialities and of course, ROSE WINE , or not for those who do not drink.

This trip will be a mixture of sightseeing, hikes, rolling on the beach in the warm sand, and a ton of delicious food and wine and why not a horse ride in the beautiful Camargue for those who wish!

I have booked a nice Japanese style hotel near the old port and the St Charles Station which is perfectly located for us as we will take a couple of trains during our trip ( a 30 minutes journey and and 1h20 minutes journey). The rooms are single occupancy, pm me if you wish to upgrade at an extra cost and the continental breakfast is included. ( please pm me if you have any dietary needs and I will sort things out for you)

DAY ONE:

We will either meet at Gatwick Airport, I will book my tickets on the 7.55 am flight to Marseille. You can also meet us directly in Marseille at 11.30 am f you wish to meet us directly there and if you prefer to depart from Stansted Airport. Booked in advance it can cost you around £150 return.

We will first head to our hotel to drop our luggages before we start with our first day of exploration, MARSEILLE.

France's second largest city is full of history and one of its most beautiful.

We are going to have a blast along the seaside, visiting the forts, the quaint streets of "the Panier" and make our way to the top of the city and the La Bonne Mere Church from where we will have some spectacular views on the mountains, the city and the MediterraneanSea.. We will of course taste some yummy food at the restaurant or in the street, trust me, the gelatossssssss! You are welcome to head back to the hotel whenever you feel like and the restaurants are optional as U know that some of our lovely people like to relax after a nice day out.

DAY 2

CAMARGUE,VISIT OF ARLES ROMAN THEATRE AND BEACHING.

We will take a train for a 1 hour 15 minutes journey and I will take you on a journey to one of France's most famous nature reserve, The Camargue , home to wild white horses, wild bulls and rare birds such as the thousands of flamingos who fill the skies before sunset.

We will stop on the way in Arles to visit the Collosseum's little brother, a Roman theatre that is one of the best preserved on the planet before we hit the road again for a 25 minutes bus journey for our close-by destination St Marie de la Mer, where my favourite beaches are. You will have the choice to come for a horse ride and try to spot the wild horses and birds or spend the day on the beach, DON'T WORRY if you have never been on a horse, the instructors will be with us, I am terrible at it and the last time I went there my horse did not listen to me and took me in a pond where I had water all the way up my hips... If the majority prefers to wander around by foot, we can walk the salted marshes and look for the flamingos.

In the evening, we will have a nice meal in one of those absolutely great restaurants where you will be able to try a beef Guardian which is the South traditional stew, sea fruits, a bouillabaisse ( traditional fish soup), paella or a great veggie meal before we drive back to Marseille.

DAY 3

HIKE THE CALANQUES AND VISIT OF CASSIS .

The Calanques of Marseilles are some of the most stunning views in the country, the Calanques are a series of gorges, secluded beaches and mountain tops that will blow your mind, this hike is about 8 miles, 12 km but a bit of a challenge in places even though there are paths, there will be a few rocks on the way but you won't want to miss it though as it will be the jewel on the crown, secluded beaches and gorges will be a delight for your photos.

We will end in the fishing town of Cassis, a post card town in the middle of the mountains where we will, of course, have a delicious meal unless you prefer to eat something in Marseille (and get more rose) for your last night in France before we take a short bus ride back to Marseille.

BE AWARE THAT THE RISKS OF FIRE BEING FREQUENT IN THE REGION, THE HILLS MIGHT BE UNDER A RED FLAG WHEN IT IS TOO HOT AND TOO DRY, IF THIS IS THE CASE, WE WILL SWAP PARTS OF THE HIKE WITH A BOAT TRIP TO THE CALANQUES AND CASSIS.

LAST DAY

I will keep the options open, there are a lot of places to visit in the area and we can decide of something once I will have created the WhatsApp group a couple of weeks before departure.

In the evening I will take you to the airport and say goodbye before I visit my father who lives about an hour from there near Avignon where more rose and more food will be waiting for me...
