About the event
The Peak District is one of Britain most visited and outstanding national parks.
It was the first in England and Wales and has been designated as such since 1951.
With its outstanding views, its cliffs, moorland and forests, it is one of the most fascinating places where every path will take us through some of the most stunning landscapes in Europe.
Home to a unique and rare wildlife, we should cross the path of some of its most famous inhabitants; the infamous red grouse, a bird species represented on the label of the Whiskey of the same name and that is only endemic to the moors of the UK and Ireland as well as curlews, golden plovers, short and long-eared owls and many mammals such as the mountain hares, the pine martens and the majestic red deer.
We will walk through magical caves and along the traditional cottages and rivers on the look out for the most perfect photographs and a great day out with our fantastic hikers.
THE TRIPS:
DAY 1:
The moors and woodlands trail.
Difficulty:Medium
Length: 10 miles
We will meet in London at 07.45 am for a 08 am departure.
Our minibus will be waiting for you and "en route" to the national park.
The journey which will include 2 short breaks at a service station should take us around 5 hours.
We will begin our hike with a short climb and fantastic views of the surrounding valleys, lakes rivers and reservoirs and will carry on through different landscapes that will blow your mind.
This is the place to look for the red grouse, my first ever encounter with this beautiful bird was at that very location, I also encountered long eared owls and Ring Ouzels, let's hope we get lucky.
The hike should take us around 5 hours, we will then make our way to our hotel and a good meal in a local restaurant.
DAY 2:
The caves and rocks tour.
We will leave around 08 am after breakfast and will head to our caves tour.
Thor's Cave is a natural cavern that was home to early humans in the Stone age and was still in use during the Iron ages and Roman times. It will give us great views and magical vibes before we travel to our hike in the ridges at a short distance. This place inaccessible by public transport will bring the best of the national park and will certainly be the apotheosis of our tour before we return to London our minds filled with souvenirs of the laughers and the adventures that we have lived.
