About the event

We will hike from Broadstairs to Ramsgate via the gorgeous Botany Bay where you can get a dip in the sea if you wish.

This day will be an easy day where we walk and stop for photographs.

Gorgeous landscapes cliffs and castles and seabirds will pave the way.

From fulmars from the petrel family, to curlews, sanderlings, redshanks, wheatears, merlins and short eared owls, the area is home to some amazing birds.

There is always a surprise, from desert wheatear, snowbuntings or hen harriers, those cliffs and beaches always bring a surprise.

Harbour Seals live in the nearby reserve of Sandwich where we might venture if you wish to extend the trip.( we might take the bus if you prefer, I can also book a boat trip to see the seals if the weather allows)

Whether they are wintering, migrating or local, we will try our luck and walk along the coast from Broadstairs all the way to the sandbanks of the Viking Bay.

The hike is about 10 miles long and we will take our time and stop whenever we see an intersting feature, this trip has got some beautiful geographical hidden gems such as Botany bay where a few pairs of fulmars are established, a bird that was only native to Scotland was was almost hunted to extention until some efforts by some great people to save it, it is now thriving in Scotland and have even extended its range to Western and Southern England and even to the North of France, the usual oyster-catchers and turnstones should also be around.

We will stop halfway to taste some delicious seaside food before we carry on to Ramsgate or further for those who wish. For this trip, we will take our time to observe and take some photos of our glorious nature.
